I never planned to swatch this shade for the blog but after striking up a conversation last Saturday with a Saleswoman in John Lewis, I thought it might be worth showing.
The Saleswoman came up to me (whilst I was browsing OPI polishes) simply to say she liked the colour on my nails, and enquired what brand/name of the polish is was. It just so happens it was Essie’s Mint Candy Apple. It’s got cult status among many nail polish fanatics, and I can see why. When it was first released, it was almost a unique colour. A few years later the minty green colour can be seen everywhere, from Barry M to China Glaze.
We both then began discussing how gorgeous some of the Essie shades are, however the thin brush was difficult to use and a majority of polishes take 3 coats! I own 4 Essie polishes, and loathe to apply them no matter how pretty the colour is.
Thankfully, Essie has now launched 70 of it’s best selling polishes into Boot and Superdrug. Not only are they available at a cheaper price (£7.99) but it’s rumoured they have a wider brush. Hurrah!
Included in the diffusion range, is of course, Mint Candy Apple. I might just pop out to buy a replacement bottle if the brush is wider. Might make applying this thick, streaky formula easier hopefully.
